Sam and Hannah met their first week of school at the Honors College at the University of South Carolina in 2019. They started dating September 1st, 2019, and Sam proposed June 11th, 2022 in Atlantic Beach, NC.

They both, by the grace of God, picked the Honors College at The University of South Carolina as the college of their choice. Hannah didn't consider USC at first, and neither did Sam, but if they hadn't picked it, they would not have met each other! Hannah attended Arendell Parrott Academy in Kinston, NC for high school, and Sam attended Cary Christian School in Cary, NC. Although they never met before college, their high schools played each other in sports, with Hannah traveling to CCS for field hockey matches and Sam traveling to APA for soccer games! Before college started, USC honors students began introducing themselves on social media, and Hannah and Sam caught a glimpse of each others' profiles and interests, and it is safe to say they liked what they saw. They had a lot in common, so they reached out to each other before school started. They discussed their mutual interests, including their shared favorite TV show 'Friends.' Once they moved into the Honors Residence Hall, before classes began, Hannah invited Sam to go with her to USC's College Kickoff Football Game in Charlotte against UNC, what would later be remembered as their first date and the night Sam asked Hannah to be his girlfriend. And the rest is history!
