Yes, formal attire is encouraged. Upscale cocktail attire—such as dresses below the knee—is also welcome. We invite guests to wear tones of midnight blue, burgundy, or black, with silver or gold accents. This is simply a suggestion—please wear what feels most comfortable and true to your personal style.
Both the ceremony and reception will be indoors at the Old Post Chapel and the Springfield Golf and Country Club respectively.
The wedding venue is the Old Post Chapel on Joint Base Myer-Henderson Hall. To access it we recommend entering through Hatfield Gate at 29 Carpenter Rd, Fort Myer, VA 22211 off of I-395 exit 8. Please refer to the travel notes for how to get on base if you do not have a military ID. From Hatfield gate continue on Carpenter Rd for 400 feet until you take a left on to McNair Rd. Follow the road for 0.5 miles and take a right on to Arlington Ave/Meigs Ave and park in the parking lot right by the cemetery. To get to the reception venue from the Old Post Chapel retrace your steps down McNair Rd and on to Carpenter Rd to exit through Hatfield Gate. From there you get on I-395 S for 8.7 miles and take exit 1B to Springfield. Merge on to Old Keene Mill Rd and follow for 2.6 miles, the destination will be on your left.
We recommend arriving to the ceremony no less than 5 minutes prior to ensure you are seated before the start of the ceremony. As a reminder for guests who do not have military IDs to allow extra time to go to the Visitor Control Center and get a pass to come on base.
There is ample parking at both venues!
After the ceremony, guests will have about an hour and a half to relax and explore before the reception begins. We encourage you to possibly go back to your hotels, relax, enjoy Old Town Alexandria, and full of great spots for a drink, a bite, or a stroll along the waterfront. We have shared a list of our favorite bars, cafés, and things to do on our website to help you make the most of the time. Please plan to arrive at the reception venue by 5PM for cocktail hour so we can celebrate together!
