Hannah Grace and Nick first met in the fall of 2021 at CrossCity Christian Church. Hannah Grace (or Hannah, as she was called at the time) went to "Anchor Nights," the church's Young Adults group, where Nicholas was a leader. At some point in time, she joined the small group that she led, interacting with Nick and others in the group. Supposedly, Nick thought Hannah Grace was a pretty girl, but alas, was never the kind of person to ask out a girl without knowing if she might be interested in him as well. A few months into their friendship, Hannah Grace heard Nicholas share his testimony at Anchor Nights and was intrigued by the guy she had met who had such a strong sense of faith despite immense challenges in his life. The two would see each other from time to time after that, engaging in a few conversations here and there throughout the following few years. Each time they had a conversation, Hannah Grace would be impressed by Nick's faith in Christ and how he carried on conversations not through idle small talk, but with real and genuine words. In fact, a few weeks before they would go on their first date, she ran into him at a coffee shop she was known to frequent, and noticed that he spent five hours straight talking to someone. After asking what kept him and a friend together so long, Nick responded that he's just the kind of guy that could talk about Jesus for hours. And finally, the stars aligned (or rather, God aligned them for them) - Hannah Grace, convinced by her best friend, decided to join a dating app for followers of Christ, called Upward. A few days after joining the app, she came upon Nick's profile. Surprised that Nick was on the app - she had assumed he was already taken - and surprised that she had come upon someone she actually knew before joining the app, Hannah Grace was intrigued and swiped right. But the most surprising of the whole experience was that Nick, too, had swiped right on her profile. About a week later, Nick asked her out on a date. They went to Denny's together for a late-night snack, and Hannah Grace had the best of times. The two spoke to each other for hours, going home at midnight with smiles on their faces. But, overthinker that she was, Hannah-Grace was worried she had showed her cards a bit too much and Nick wasn't interested in a second date. After a horrible date with someone else on the app the next day, she thought she was in over her head. The following Monday, she told her friends that if it didn't work out with Nick, maybe it was just God telling her now wasn't the right time. But, as is His nature in many things, God had some different plans. Nick indeed reached out for a second date, and a third, and a fourth. Finally, the two went to a "hoedown," where Nick and Hannah-Grace were the talk of the town. Gathering with many friends who had no idea either of them were even friends, let alone dating, the night sparked quite a few questions from old friends. One asked if they were boyfriend and girlfriend, to which they awkwardly didn't know how to respond and avoided the question. Later that night, Nick drove Hannah Grace home, where the topic came up, and he finally told her that he liked being around her and was interested in being in a relationship if that was what she wanted. She told Nick that would be nice, and the rest is history...
