No, British passport holders can travel to South Africa without a visa for up to 90 days for business or tourism.
Getting there can be a bit pricey, but once you arrive food, drink, activities and accommodation are all really reasonable. Wine tastings for £6, need we say more?! If you have concerns or want to discuss budget for your trip, please let us know. We know travelling to South Africa is an awful lot to ask and we don't want anyone to feel pressure to come all that way.
It depends on the airline and the route. We'd start tracking prices a year in advance but for some airlines the best time to book is roughly 6-8 months in advance. Some people are getting together to arrange group tickets via a travel agent so it might be worth exploring that.
This really depends on your budget and what is available on the day you'd like to fly. We typically fly from Edinburgh to somewhere in Europe (Zurich, Frankfurt, Amsterdam etc.) and then on to Cape Town. This usually means 14 hours total flight time, give or take. There are simpler routes, via London for example but these tend to be more expensive. There are also cheaper, longer routes typically through the Middle East and/or other European countries.
Absolutely not! Please come to as many or as few "wedding week" events as you like, we won't be offended if you would prefer to go off adventuring. As long as you make it to the wedding, ideally!
No, we have booked out the entire venue for the night before and night of the wedding party. But, you're more than welcome to source your own accommodation if you would like to, please do just let us know ASAP. There is a range of accommodation options on site and, in advance of the wedding, once numbers are more clear we'll look at allocating each guest a room. If you have specific requirements, please flag in advance if you can.
You will! But, most providers will charge you a small fortune to use your data in South Africa and while a lot of places have Wi-Fi, you probably shouldn't rely on it particularly to get around, use sat nav and if you need to order Ubers etc. We recommend getting an e-SIM just before you fly - you can select how much data you will need over what period, add it to your phone electronically (no need to locate the tiny pin you got when you bought your phone) and can top up as you go if you run out. Hannah has uses Airalo!
