We met at the Southie (South Boston) St. Patrick's Day Parade. Hannah's friend Maddy lived on the parade route and was hosting people to watch the parade and celebrate the holiday. Shortly after Hannah and her friend Nicole arrived, Maddy's boyfriend Ryan's friends showed up, including Nick. While watching the parade and searching for cute boys, Maddy commented, "You know who has nice arms? Nick." And my interest was piqued. Post-parade, we played games at Maddy's apartment before transferring to Nick and Ryan's apartment in Somerville, MA for pizza and more games: Nick's favorite, "Flunky Ball." During the train ride and walk between the two apartments, Hannah and Nick struck up a conversation. Nick was the easiest person to chat with; the interest and care he conveyed drew Hannah in. While on the train and walking between the two apartments, Nick Before she left for the evening, Nick pulled Hannah aside and asked for her number and texted her his name so she had his contact, as well. Once home, Hannah texted Nick asking how the rest of the evening went, kicking off the e-communication. A few days later, Nick asked Hannah what she was up to that week and they planned their first date. That Friday they saw an improv show in Boston. The friends Hannah made in the line waiting for the bathroom pointed out our matching tops and asked how long we had been dating, surprised to hear it was our first date. When they asked what we were doing the rest of the night, we looked at each other and decided to extend the evening with dinner in Boston's North End at a (now closed) lovely Italian restaurant. Hannah describes their first date as feeling like an interview but in the best way possible. She thought that they both felt a connection and felt that this could be something special, and they were asking deeper questions to get to know if they could be the right match for each other. Hannah asked Nick to describe himself in three words, and he responded with, "Curious, reliable, and cheeky.) At the time of writing this (2.5 years later) Hannah would describe him as thoughtful, silly, and reliable. Oh, and the love of her life. From there, things moved rather quickly. A month after their first date, they were in love. Not long after that they began talking about their future, talk of marriage and kids just naturally coming up in conversation. after two and a half years of dating, Nick cemented that future by asking Hannah to marry him after a walk (Hannah's favorite activity) to his old apartment where they were the day they met, the place he first told her he loved her, and the place he asked her to marry him.
