As of mid February, to arrive in Italy you need a negative Covid-19 test. For the wedding, you will need a negative covid test within the last 48 hours, or your vaccination card. Throughout Italy, to get into all restaurants and coffee bars a "green pass" is needed. The green pass is basically your vaccination card. Your vaccine/booster must have been administered within the last 6 months. A QR code of your vaccination card will be the most comfortable way to get around. Masks are required inside establishments but not outside in public places.
Good question. It will be the end of June so we are expecting warm during the day mid to high 70s and cooler in the evenings — 60s.
Dress up! Be comfy! You'll be in this outfit for a long while. All colors, lengths, jackets no jackets are welcome! Just remember to pack your dancing shoes. And please, no jeans.
No. You you have until June 24th to learn Italian. JUST KIDDING. Most of the staff will be able to speak a bit of English at the wedding. Lots of our friends are bilingual! Younger Italians our age will be able to speak a little because they've learned it in school, and some didn't pay attention and will steer very clear from all Americans -- KIDDING. Then there are the grandparents, who barely speak Italian, they just speak their own dialect so just smile and laugh and you'll be okay. Do not hesitate to strike up a conversation, Italians are the nicest people in the world especially the people from Puglia. Just remember to speak clearly, slowly and refrain from using lots of slang.
A traditional Italian dinner last a good couple of hours, a traditional holiday dinner like Christmas could last 6-8 hours, and weddings just the same. Our wedding is not a traditional Italian wedding. Mino comes from the south, Puglia. And in Puglia they party hard, and eat and eat and eat. They're known throughout Italy for having the best food, and a great abundance of it. SO! Without spoiling the menu our wedding "lunch" will have many courses, and between all of these courses there will be entertainment and time to get up mingle, dance, take a breather in the beautiful garden, take a nap...you name it, because there will be time for it all!
Upon RSVPing for the wedding, you will be asked if you need room accommodations. Respond to the question with how many rooms/people in each room and I will make the reservation as early as January. You can then pay for the room when you arrive in Italy.
The guy didn’t give me a straight number because it varies depending on how many people are sleeping there. It will be around €60/70 for two people and up to €100 for 6 people. There are hotel rooms on site at the restaurant and there are rooms down the road affiliated with the restaurant that are apartment style with kitchens included. There are Airbnb’s and other hotels in the area for a cheaper price.
If you plan on traveling a bit in Puglia, I suggest renting a car. There are not any metros/subways, there are a few buses and trains. But for convenience, I suggest renting a car for after wedding travels.
