Please just make sure you are staying near Shirok Sokak in Bitola. This is the main area (see Things to Do tab) and all events for the weekend will be walkable for you and your company.
Flight
Macedonia has two airports, with the capital city of Skopje having the main international airport. More frequent/main cities that fly into Skopje on a regular basis: Frankfurt Vienna Istanbul Belgrade Warsaw Less Frequent/cities with budget airlines that into Skopje: London (Luton) Zurich Zagreb Malmo Drive time to Bitola city center from this airport is approximately 2.0 to 2.5 hours.
Flight
This is the airport in Greece that is closest to Bitola. If you want to plan your trip to Greece beforehand (or after), this is the most convenient to get to and from Bitola. Simply rent a car and explore Greece on your own. Fun fact: Hannah and I did this exact drive during her first visit to Macedonia in 2023. A pleasant drive that opens up to the southernmost point of the Balkan peninsula. Go explore the Halkidiki in the northeast of Greece or drive down to south through mainland Greece. Drive time to Bitola city center from this airport is approximately 2.5 to 3.0 hours.
Flight
Similar to the option in Greece, this is Albania's main airport. If you're feeling adventurous Albania is turning into a tourist hot spot, especially on the southern end. If you find yourself with some extra time before or after the Macedonia jaunt, you can consider this airport option. Drive time to Bitola city center from this airport is approximately 3.5 to 4.0 hours.
Flight
Macedonia's second, and smaller, airport. Few flights fly into this newly revamped airport but could be worthwhile if you find a flight into this area. Airlines (& cities) that fly into Ohrid: Wizz Air (Dortmund, Memmingen, Vienna) Turkish Airlines (Istanbul) Chair (Zurich) Drive time to Bitola city center from this airport is approximately 1.5 hours.
Rental Car
There are various companies located right at the main terminal, with some familiar company names for those interested in renting a car. Click the link for more details on the airport's main website. Below is a list of the more popular providers: Avis Budget Hertz Alamo/Enterprise/National Sixt Kiril has used Sixt in the past before and the experience was easy. The benefit with Sixt at the Skopje International Airport is that it is open 24 hours for both pick-up and drop-off.
Travel Note
Service from Skopje to Bitola (approximately 100€) The taxi services at Skopje International Airport are regulated by the price list which is exhibited at the exit of the airport and in each taxi vehicle separately. The vehicles of the Airport taxi company are all in white color and marked with a taxi sign numbered from 1 to 65. Airport taxi is the only company which has been authorized by TAV Macedonia to transport passengers from Skopje International Airport. The vehicles are parked at the exit of the airport building 24 hours a day, so there is no need for reservations. If you need transportation for larger groups you can arrange via the e-mail or phone stated on the website. Transportation services are available from the airport to Skopje, across the country and neighboring Balkan countries. Please refer to the FAQ tab for planned coordinated pick-ups from Kiril and family.
