I first met Josh when I went back to school at Texas State after my mission. I only recognized about 2 people at the church from before. The first Sunday at church, I didn't notice him and he didn't notice me. The following Monday was FHE that he was in charge of. I showed up and while we waited for the building to be unlocked we started talking. He asked me about my mission, and I asked where he served his. He told me in the Tri-Cities area in Washington and I gasped because I had just been there for the birth of my niece, Eliana! Already something in common. But still, I wasn't interested. That night after FHE I saw him talking to my friend Elena and I had to talk to Elena so I went up to them. Josh was inviting her to a performance he had to go to for school the next day. Elena said I should come to, and I said sure. That's when Josh asked me for my number. So, the next day I wasn't really doing much, but I didn't feel like going. I texted Elena and she said she wasn't going either. I then felt bad. Everyone else he had invited also flaked. I thought, Was this guy a loser with no friends?? So I panicked and texted him again (after texting him I wasn't going) that sure, why not, I could go! Out of pity for the poor dude. He drove me to where the performance was, I paid for my ticket, and while waiting for the performance to start, we talked some more and got to know each other. I found myself having a good time. After the performance in his truck, he said that a friend of his from the branch was having a little party at her house and if I wanted to go. I said sure, but I hadn't really eaten all day and I was starving. I didn't know of any places around so he took me to Gumby's Pizza. He ordered the baker's dozen of the pepperoni rolls and then he paid for it! I told him he didn't need to do that, but it had already happened. We then headed over to the party and had a great night. And that's the beginning of our story!
Hannah doesn't know, but when she first started looking for apartments in San Marcos she had originally chose to be roommates with one of my closest friends from the branch, Renna. Renna had told me all about her and what she was like and how sweet and cute she was. When I asked Renna if she thought I would like her, Renna said she didn't know. After the summer ended, and the first FHE was happening, I waited for someone with a key to open the institute door so that I could start preparing for the activity. I remember waiting and looking around to see who all was there, and she was there talking with one guy who was also new to the branch. She was talkative and smiling the entire time anyone started a conversation with her. After FHE, my friends Elena and Jacy stuck around to chat. We talked about hanging out and when that would be possible. They suggested a day and I told them that I couldn't because I had to go to a performance that was put on by my guitar teachers' brother and was required for credit at the University. Both Elena and Jacy said that we should all go together and go out to eat afterwards. As Elena suggested that, Hannah walked up and wanted to know what was happening. Elena then invited Hannah to join the friend group to go to the music performance. I, knowing that Jacy and Elena would cancel, agreed that she should come with. "It'll be fun", I said. I never really expected for her to actually go. When she said that she was going even though we'd be the only two people there I assumed that she wanted to get to know more people from the branch. After the performance she said she was hungry so I suggested Gumby's Pizza. I paid for the meal because I would’ve done that for any girl that I'd go out to eat with. I then invited her to a party that Renna was having because I thought that her, being new in the branch, would want to get to know more people. She happily accepted and that was the beginning of all the fun and excitement the would follow!
