This one seems kind of obvious, but if anyone comes to visit us, we always take them to Pike Place! The food is amazing, the flower bouquets are big and inexpensive and you'll get the best weather Seattle has to offer in September for strolling through the market. Visit the first Starbucks and of course, watch a fish go flying at Pike Place Fish.
Woodinville boosts 130+ wineries across four winemaking districts. If you don't love wine, they also have plenty of distilleries. There is also Hollywood Tavern, which is where John and I had one of our first dates. They have an amazing firepit outside and offer whisky milkshakes (they're amazing)!
Voted in the top 10 Main Street Towns 2020, downtown Snohomish is an adorable town full of restaurants, antique shops, and boutiques. Snohomish also has beautiful views of the mountains and is home to some of our favorite farms- including Dairyland where we get our Christmas tree and The Farm at Swans Trail where we get our pumpkins and apples. They have amazing fruit farms that will be open while you're in town!
Leavenworth is a Bavarian-styled village in the Cascade Mountains, located two hours from Seattle. Alpine-style buildings with restaurants serving German beer and food line the main street. There is amazing hiking in the area, as it's a gateway to ski areas in the winter, but it's also a great place to just check out the shops, many wineries and restaurants in the area. This will be an amazing place to visit in September, as they will be getting ready for Oktoberfest.
3 hours to the north is Vancouver, but 3 hours to the south is Portland, Oregon! Enjoy Pittock Manson, the International Rose Test Garden, Voodoo Donuts and Portland's hundreds of breweries- don't forget to take a detour about 35 minutes outside of Portland to my favorite waterfall- Multnomah Falls.
Hiking is one of our top recommendations for everyone visiting- you will find hikes here for every skill level. Our favorites include: Rattlesnake Ledge, Lake 22, Heather Lake Trail, Ape Caves, Oyster Dome, Heybrook Lookout, any hike in Mount Rainier National Park...and of course where we got engaged, High Rock Lookout. These hikes range from 40 minutes to 3 hours outside of Seattle. If you'd like to check out any of these hikes, please ask us for more information or check out WTA.org for trail information.
One of our favorite places and top recommendations! An old school turned hotel - this place is so fun, even if you're not staying the night! With so many restaurants and bars on campus, have a handcrafted beverage in the hallway, order drinks in the Pricipal's Office, play pinball in the Woodshop and try a special whisky in an actual Whisky shack. The courtyard is home to fire pits which make for a cozy evening during those chilly summer nights.
