Flight

Juan Santamaría International Airport (SJO)

There are two major airports in Costa Rica, SJO and LIR. We highly recommend flying into San Jose (SJO). If you choose to fly into Libera (LIR), know that the drive to La Fortuna is rather challenging including unpaved roads and mountain cutbacks.

Hotel

Los Lagos Hotel, Spa & Resort

We recommend guests stay at the Los Lagos Hotel, Spa, and Resort, which is where the ceremony will take place. Staying at the resort gives you the easiest access to our weekend events. The Alajuela Province also has many other lodging options, including many budget friendly hotels and Airbnb rentals. We recommend searching along Rt 142 for places with a great view of the Arenal Volcano and proximity to weekend events. Additionally we recommend the Arenal Observatory Lodge for a unique experience staying within the Arenal National Park or the Volcano Lodge, Hotel and Thermal Experience.

Rental Car

Enterprise at San Jose Airport

Travel throughout Costa Rica is best done by car. Many hotels offer transport options from and to the local airports as well as around the La Fortuna area. Uber is available in San Jose and La Fortuna proper, though we do not recommend taking an Uber from San Jose to La Fortuna as it is a 3hr drive. Our best recommendation is to rent a vehicle from one of the numerous car rental agencies within the SJO airport. We highly recommend booking your vehicle in advance to ensure they have a proper vehicle on hold for you when you arrive. Note that if you are staying at the Los Lagos Hotel, Spa, and Resort, they do not have in-house shuttle service but they can help coordinate transportation for you.
