Like any modern love story, we met on a dating app in May 2023. But in true “us” fashion, we immediately chose adventure. We skipped the pen-pal stage entirely and exchanged exactly six messages before spending nearly four hours talking in an actual phone call that very first night. No warm-up. No small talk. Just straight into the deep end. We literally didn't even start the call with a "hello". We just picked up and ran like we had known each other forever. The next day, we had our first unofficial date at a local grocery store. Because why overthink it? And because we apparently have zero sense of self-preservation, we followed that up by driving around for two hours together… as complete strangers… in a rental car. Romantic? Questionable. Memorable? Absolutely. On our first real date the universe laughed at us and revealed the plot twist: we lived less than a five-minute walk from each other. Door to door. After full lives, a military career, three college degrees, a whole pandemic, and a thousand little detours… somehow we were neighbors for years, and yet we only met once it was our time. Call it fate. Call it God. Call it perfect timing. Whatever it was, it found us exactly when we were ready. Since 2023, we’ve been tending to this love like something sacred. Every endless conversation (and yes, we will debate mail delivery systems, grocery store layouts, and hypothetical alien civilizations for hours), every quiet prayer whispered in the dark, every road trip, every slow morning, all of it soaked in gratitude and awe for what we’ve found in each other. We are, without question, each other’s best friend. With the adventurous and unpredictable flare that only we know how to do, Hughey "asked" (more like practically forced) Hannah to go skydiving in October 2024. Hannah jumped but it was Hughey who took the leap and, more nervous to ask than he was to jump, he proposed (safely on the ground). With a renewed appreciation for holding his steady hands, Hannah said "yes." From best friends to spouses, we welcome this next chapter with joy, excitement, and a true sense of adventure.
