San Diego International Airport! You'll land right in the heart of the most beautiful city! If you choose to stay around Downtown or Little Italy you're just a couple miles away. If you are staying in Escondido it will be about a 45 min drive north.
The San Diego Safari Park is one of our all time favorite spots if you're looking to get some steps in and see some exotic animals - we highly recommend! If you're here to relax, check out some of the amazing wineries nearby!
What isn't there?! The San Diego Zoo is one of the top in the world and almost like our second home. This is also a place you can go if you are ready to get some steps in - its massive with lots of walking trails and has more to offer than just animals! Balboa Park is right next door and offers so many museums for all different interests and has plenty of places to plop in the grass and enjoy the sunshine if that's more your speed. Little Italy (where we live) is a great spot for, you guessed it, Italian food! and you can walk down to Waterfront Park right on the harbor. In this same neighborhood, you can follow the harbor walk south along the water into Seaport Village where you will find lots of little shops and yummy restaurants. This is our go to "city walk" spot. Its about 1 mile from Waterfront Park to Seaport Village. If you're looking for a good beach, don't worry, we have plenty of those too! Our favorite beaches are in Torrey Pines - think smaller beaches framed by beautiful cliffs. There are beaches in this area that you hike down into as well as some that you can park and walk. La Jolla shores is another great beach that has very easy access. These beaches are good if you're looking for less crowds (and less college kids) and an overall calmer vibe. If you're here to get a margarita on the beach and walk the boardwalk, then head over to Mission or Pacific Beach!
