Clark’s holds a special place for Hannah and Elliott. They had their first date here on July 3, 2021, after walking over from Jack Moody’s pool party. Some of their favorites include the oysters, crudo plate, the burger, and linguine with clams. They return every year to celebrate their anniversary. Don’t skip the key lime pie for dessert!
Barton Springs captures the magic of Austin. Open year round and naturally fed by a spring, the pool stays a refreshing constant temperature no matter the season. On Hannah’s first day off work after moving to Austin, Elliott introduced her to Barton Springs. It has been a favorite ever since, especially for a morning dip in the Texas heat.
Suerte is Elliott’s favorite restaurant in town, known for incredible suadero tacos and his favorite drink in Austin, the Don Dario cocktail. It’s also our go-to spot for taking friends and family when they’re visiting from out of town.
If you’re looking for an incredible burger and fries paired with an ice cold beer, Hold Out is the spot. When Hannah first moved to Austin, she spent many weekends here while Meg Phippin wrapped up her shift. Elliott highly recommends the chicken bacon ranch burger.
Austin’s food scene wouldn’t be complete without tacos, and they’re a regular part of our rotation. For breakfast tacos, Elliott’s go to is Veracruz La Fonda in Mueller, while Hannah’s favorite is Lazarus Brewing. For non breakfast tacos, other favorites around town include Discada, Paprika ATX, and Cuantos Tacos.
Austin has no shortage of great barbecue, but if we had to narrow it down, these are our favorites: LeRoy and Lewis, KG BBQ, and Micklethwait Craft Meats. Franklin BBQ is another favorite, but we recommend you order in advance for pickup instead of waiting in line, it can take many hours.
Hannah and Elliott love spending time outdoors. Some favorite spots include the Barton Creek Greenbelt and the hike to Sculpture Falls, the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center, walking around Lady Bird Lake, time in Zilker Park, and checking out the troll at Pease Park.
For brunch, some of our favorite spots around Austin include Paperboy, Café No Sé, June’s All Day, Josephine House, Toasty Badger, and Proud Mary Coffee. For lunch, we recommend Pool Burger, All Day Pizza, Home Slice Pizza, Elizabeth Street Cafe, Sour Duck Market, Vic & Al’s, and Loro. For dinner, some of our go-to spots include Intero, Uchiko, Este, Lin Asian, Odd Duck, Red Ash, Peacock, El Naranjo, and Fonda San Miguel.
If you’re hoping to catch some live music while you’re in town, a few local spots to check out include The White Horse, Sagebrush, Saxon Pub, and the legendary Continental Club. Please visit their websites for upcoming live music nights.
