Areas to shop / eat / browse

Balboa Island: You can walk or bike the island and take the ferry across to the Peninsula (where the beach is). The Peninsula: Beach and bars. The "fun zone" is across the ferry on the peninsula side. There is a Ferris Wheel, arcade games, rentals for jet skis, paddle boarding, Duffy's and more! Lido Island: Restaurants and shops on the water. You can ride your bike to the beach from here. Fashion Island: Outdoor mall with movie theater, shops, restaurants Corona Del Mar: Along the coast of Pacific coast highway there are a ton of restaurants, shops and beaches. You can find bike rentals, duffy rentals and other water sports to rent.

Beaches

The first area is typically around 16th to 32nd Street, where you can easily walk and grab a bite to eat. Another spot is further down the Peninsula, around A to L streets, where you'll find a fun zone for kids and lively beach bars. If you're up for exploring more, you can drive down to Laguna Beach, known for its beautiful beach coves. There's also a beachfront restaurant called 'The Beachcomber' located between Newport and Laguna Beach. Bike the boardwalk: Rent bikes once you cross the ferry to the Peninsula side and bike up and down the Newport Boardwalk! Note that the boardwalk ends at 36th street, if you want to go further, bike in the alleys to avoid street traffic. The Wedge: Known for it's giant and dangerous waves, The Wedge is a famous Newport surf spot for those who are experienced enough to brave this wave. Check surfline and if the swell is large, this is a great spot to go watch some incredible surfers and body surfers.

Fashion Island

Our big outdoor mall that has a ton of restaurants, shops and salons! It is also across the street from the VEA hotel (one of our hotel options).
