Despite sharing the same alma mater and having many mutual friends in their social circles, David and Hannah never met during their time at IU. It wasn't until they both moved to the city of Chicago, post-graduation, that their paths truly crossed. Their introduction happened at their mutual friend's party in 2019 (shoutout to Sean Cooney, Austin Southwell, and Carson Bricco as the hosts of this life-changing party and shoutout to Heather Tilly for forcing Hannah to go to this house party on a Thursday night despite having work on Friday). From the moment they met, there was an undeniable connection that drew them closer throughout the night. As they exchanged stories about their shared friend group and laughed about the craziness of it all, it became clear that their paths were meant to cross at that moment. As their friendship blossomed, they explored Chicago together—attending concerts, trying new restaurants, and laughing all along the way. A few months into their newfound connection, they found themselves back at Indiana University for a football game with their best friends. It was on November 22, 2019 in the iconic Kilroy's Sports Jungle (if you know you know), Dave took the leap and asked Hannah to be his girlfriend. It was a moment etched in IU lore, and from that day forward, their story unfolded with laughter, love, and countless adventures <3

Given that David asked Hannah to be his girlfriend during a late night in the Kilroy's Sports Jungle (which is the epitome of a college nightclub for any non-Hoosiers reading this) he figured he should step up his game a bit for the actual marriage proposal! For Christmas in 2022, David surprised Hannah with a trip to Paris, France! Their trip was in mid-March 2023, giving Hannah approximately 2.5 months to spiral as to whether or not they were getting engaged (it would've been a little rude for him not to propose on a surprise trip to Paris - Right???). A few days into the trip while David and Hannah were walking to dinner, Dave got down on one knee on the Bir-Hakeim bridge (where Hannah kept walking because she thought Dave's shoe was untied), where there is a stunning backdrop of the Eiffel Tower and Seine where he hired a professional photographer to capture the moment. David definitely understood the assignment!
