Things To Do

We hope you enjoy these local recommendations as much as we do! Please let us know if you're extending your trip and need recommendations for day trips or other more specific suggestions.
Mugs

Mugs

5126 Park Road, Charlotte, NC 28209

This is our favorite coffee place, and only a short walk across the street from us.

Pasta & Provisions

Pasta & Provisions

4700 Park Road, Charlotte, NC 28209

We regularly get a salad or sandwich here and walk it over to Brawley's taproom across the street for a great lunch! Be prepared to sit outside & be mindful of the weather. If you've visited us in Charlotte, chances are we've taken you here already.

Brawley's Beverage

Brawley's Beverage

4620 Park Road, Charlotte, NC 28209

Brawley's isn't sophisticated enough for a website... but don't let that stop you from grabbing a craft beer, cider, or glass of wine. Another outside only option.

Rhino Market & Deli Southpark

Rhino Market & Deli Southpark

4300 Congress Street, Charlotte, NC 28209

A top casual lunch recommendation, and they have breakfast options too.

Petit Philippe Fine Wine

Petit Philippe Fine Wine

4001 Park Road, Charlotte, NC 28209

Petite Philippe is a wine shop and bar we frequent and genuinely love — perfect if you’re looking for truly good wine, not just a place to grab a drink.

Freedom Park

Freedom Park

1908 East Boulevard, Charlotte, NC 28203

Freedom Park is great for an easy walk, a bit of fresh air, or connecting onto the Little Sugar Creek Greenway for a longer stroll or run.

Little Sugar Creek Greenway

Little Sugar Creek Greenway

Little Sugar Creek Greenway, Charlotte, NC

Little Sugar Creek Greenway is a mostly paved, flat multi-use trail that runs through the city and into South Carolina. Hazel is a regular! It winds alongside Little Sugar Creek for miles, connecting parks, neighborhoods, and scenic spots. It's perfect for walking, running, biking, or a relaxed morning stroll. You’ll find access points near Freedom Park and SouthPark, and plenty of opportunities to enjoy nature without leaving the city.

U.S. National Whitewater Center

U.S. National Whitewater Center

5000 Whitewater Center Parkway, Charlotte, NC 28214

If you’re up for something active, the Whitewater Center offers rafting, trails, and great outdoor space for walking, running, or just relaxing with a drink. A fun way to spend a few hours if you arrive early or stay late.

Rally

Rally

101 Southside Drive, Charlotte, NC 28217

A great spot for something active! Rally Pickleball offers indoor and outdoor courts, but you do need to reserve in advance. If you decide to do this, please do not injure yourself...

Suffolk Punch Brewing South End

2911 Griffith Street, Charlotte, NC 28203

If you want to explore a different area of Charlotte (a little more hip and young than we are these days...) and enjoy a great beer, this is Hannah's recommendation. She likes a Blue Daisy or a Daydream. They have a second location in the SouthPark mall too (but expect many children as there is a playground nearby).

Midwood Smokehouse

540 Brandywine Road, Charlotte, NC 28209

If you're coming in from out of town and are interested in BBQ, this is the place for you. They catered Hannah's 30th birthday, so if you enjoyed it then this is your chance for a repeat.

Renaissance Pâtisserie

6401 Carnegie Boulevard, Charlotte, NC 28211

Pastries, breakfast, and lunch including quiche, soup, and sandwiches — a solid local option. If you're willing to drive a few extra minutes and get there by 9:30ish to avoid sellout risk, Vicente Bistro is really our favorite pastry shop!
