Chad and Hannah met in college at Wittenberg University (Witt). At Witt, they were both on the basketball teams and had met a few times through teammates at social gatherings (parties). At one such gathering, Chad offered to walk Hannah back to her dorm, to make sure she got home safe (what a gentleman!). At the end of the walk, that neither wanted to end, Hannah shared her phone number with Chad. After that night, Hannah waited for Chad to text her… and waited… and waited… finally, after (forever!) 2 weeks (who was counting?) he texted. Hannah, unable to hide her huge grin from her parents who were visiting Witt and asked who had texted her, was ecstatic. The next few months they started to hang out more and got to know each other better. This of course drew attention from their friends and teammates who began questioning them about the status of their relationship. Eventually, after being questioned multiple times that day, Hannah told Chad “People keep asking me if we are dating… I’m going to start telling them yes.” (how lady like!). It was official. After Witt, Hannah and Chad went to grad school at different schools and were long distance for 3 years. Hannah then received a job offer in New Orleans, LA and convinced Chad to move with her; this was a big step in their relationship, as at that point they had spent the majority of their relationship long distance and were not only moving in together for the first time, but also across the country. This ended up being the right decision for their relationship and they enjoyed 2 years in the Big Easy, eating their favorite seafood, evacuating from hurricanes, and making many trips to the beach. Despite the thrill of NOLA, they became homesick for Ohio and being closer to their friends and families and moved to Columbus. After taking some time to buy their first house, Hannah knew the next step (engagement) would be coming soon!
Shortly after moving into their home, Hannah and Chad began planning a trip to Yosemite National Park. They were both so excited for the trip, and Hannah even more excited at the possibility of getting engaged in such a picturesque location. While exploring the park, Hannah was sure Chad was going to propose at at least 3 different spots… while all of those spots were beautiful, the final proposal was worth the wait. The park was pretty crowded that weekend, but Chad found a secluded spot along the river within the valley where they were finally alone. He got down on one knee, and in his signature short but sweet manner, asked Hannah to marry him. It was just the two of them and the beautiful nature of the valley surrounding; it was the perfect engagement for their relationship. Hannah and Chad will be getting married right down the road from where Hannah grew up on Catawba Island, OH, along the shores of Lake Erie which they both love so much.
