MT Coffee is one of our favorite spots in Havelock North and a place that holds many special memories for us. It’s a lovely walk from the village, making it the perfect stop during a day of exploring. This is where Beau taught me to play chess, and we’ve spent countless hours there drinking coffee and attempting (often unsuccessfully!) to beat him. Be sure to stop by for a game of chess and some of the best coffee in town. Open hours: 6am - 12:30 pm during the week and 8am - 12pm over the weekend
Be sure to stop by the Strawberry Patch for a real fruit ice cream. It’s a beautiful spot that we’ve always loved visiting, and we used to pick our own strawberries there. It holds many special memories and is well worth the stop.
Don’t miss a visit to Arataki Honey, the local apiary and one of our favorite stops in town. You can taste-test a variety of delicious honeys, watch the bees at work through live hive windows, and explore an amazing gift shop. There’s even a dress-up corner for kids, where Beau has been known to don a bee costume more than once!
You can't go wrong with any of the wineries in the region. Some of our favorite ones are Craggy Range, Clearview Estate, and Black Barn
Although Hawke's Bay sits on the eastern coast, not all beaches are ideal for swimming. We recommend heading to Ocean Beach or Waimarama Beach, both are stunning and well worth the drive. It's a fair distance but a beautiful drive.
Just north of Havelock North is Napier which is known for Art Deco architecture, go for a walk/cycle along the beach at Marine Parade, lots of boutique cellar doors for wine tastings.
Ride along one of New Zealand's most beautiful coastal stretches on a guided boutique horse trek. Whether you're an experienced rider or a first-timer, it's a magical way to take in the scenery.
