Things To Do
Bear Mountain State Park
Bear Mountain State Park is our favorite destination in the area. There are several gorgeous hiking trails (including an easy loop around Hessian Lake), a trailside zoo, a restaurant, and a gift shop.
Heritage Trail
This is a mostly flat, paved trail for walking, running, biking, and rollerblading. It extends 19.5 miles from the Village of Harriman to the City of Middletown, with several access points in between. We love it!
Storm King Art Center
Storm King Art Center is a large outdoor museum with contemporary sculptures on display and striking mountain views. You will be walking up and down grassy hills, so wear comfortable shoes. Tram tours are available.
Blooming Hill Farm
This is our favorite farmer's market in the area. They have a wide variety of delicious produce, freshly baked sourdough, jams, and a restaurant. The market is open Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays from 10am-2pm (get there early for the best selection) and the restaurant is open Wednesdays through Sundays, reservations required.
Woodbury Common Premium Outlets
This is a large outdoor shopping mall in Woodbury, NY with many high-end stores. It is lovely to walk through, though a bit of a maze, so pay attention to the map and remember where you parked!
Scalia & Co Craft Kitchen and Bar
Casual Italian restaurant in Monroe with great food. Located in the ShopRite plaza.
Tulcingo
Good Mexican restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating.
