Hannah left Iowa for California to chase her dream career, while unbeknownst to her, James’ parents moved from Louisiana to the same town she settled in that very month. After a few years of visiting his parents and while dealing with the aftermath of Hurricane Ida, James decided to join his parents in California. He began volunteering in the Youth Ministry, where Hannah had already been a regular leader. His first thought? “Cute Midwest girl -plus, my mom will love that she’s a Packers fan.” Her first thought? “Why does this dude have a rat-tail?". The hairstyle alone was almost enough for her to dismiss him entirely. Over time though, their acquaintance grew into friendship, and eventually, James’ relentless compliments chipped away at Hannah’s skepticism. He asked her out during the holidays, and by her birthday, James knew he found the companion, confidant, and counterpart for the rest of his life. After two proposal attempts fell through and a ticking clock on the third, he finally surprised her with a sunset proposal in front of the youth group where it all began. They are delighted to be hosting the wedding during the Iowa State Fair, allowing James' family and friends to take part in a tradition that Hannah's family have enjoyed for generations.
