Wedding Venue, Villa Le Palme

We rented this 9-bedroom villa for the wedding week. This hillside villa is from the early 1900's and has a spectacular sea view of the Gulf of Poets (La Spezia). There are 3 floors, each with 3 bedrooms, a kitchen and common space. The property includes a terrace with a sea view, garden gazebo, Wi-fi, covered garden veranda, BBQ, private parking for 4 cars, garden overlooking an olive orchard, and pool equipped with an external shower, changing room, and a panoramic terrace with tables and chairs. Rooms will first go to family but if any family choose to stay off-site, we will open up the remaining rooms to other guests, first come first serve. For inquires, contact Hanna. Guest Accommodations in Italy

Suggestions of areas to stay in/near include Cinque Terre (cars not allowed within the towns though), Porto Venere, and La Spezia (the nearest largest city with the most transportation services). For other villas or apartments by the same company, please see www.seaandcountryvillas.com. Airbnb is another good option that offers affordable prices and charming accommodations. There are plenty of hotels in the area, but we recommend that whatever type of accommodation you choose, you book well in advance. This area is a popular tourist destination and even though May is considered the shoulder season with fewer tourists, the charming seaside towns of Cinque Terre and Porto Venere are relatively small.

Flight

Getting to Italy: Pisa Airport (PSA), Genoa Airport (GOA), or Milan (BGY or MXP)

The closest airports are Pisa International Airport (from the south, ~80 km, ~1 hr drive) and Genoa Cristoforo Colombo Airport (from the north, ~100 km, ~1 1/2 hr drive). Probably the cheapest airport to fly into is Milan, either Bergamo (BGY) or Malpensa (MXP), but it is a 3-hr drive to the property or Cinque Terre/Portovenere area. You can take any combo of rental car (pretty cheap if you book in advance) and/or train (to La Spezia). You can easily get to Cinque Terre or Portovenere from there, again either with a rental or train. Skyscanner is good for finding cheap flights in Europe.

Flight

Getting to Germany: Hamburg Airport (HAM)

The closest airport to Plön is Hamburg International Airport (HAM). From there, it's ~1 1/2 hr drive or ~2 hr train ride. We can arrange to travel in groups to either carpool together or get a group train ticket for cheap. We are more than happy to help you arrange travel and accommodation arrangements from Italy to Germany and for staying in Germany, just let us know. Skyscanner is good for finding cheap flights, especially within Europe. If you're coming to Germany as well, book early (the earliest you can book is 1 year out from the current date).

Train

Getting to La Spezia (nearest train station to Villa Le Palme)

Whether you're coming from Pisa or Genoa (Genova), you can take the train from the airport to La Spezia pretty quickly and cheaply. Other options include renting a car in Pisa/Genoa and using it for the duration of your stay or taking the train to La Spezia and renting a car there for getting around. Train

Getting to Plön via Train

We will most likely travel together or in groups, by car or train, but if you decide to travel independently, there is a train from Hamburg Hauptbahnhoff (main station, Hamburg Hbf) to Plön with 1 change for ~20 euros. Group tickets are considerably cheaper.

Guest Accommodations in Germany

Gut Wittmoldt has very affordable on-site housing (ferienwohnung) so those coming from out-of-town are encouraged to stay here for convenience. We will be happy to book accommodations for you here, just let us know. However, Nils and others have extra bedrooms so, if need be, we can look to put you up for a couple of nights while you're staying in the area. Uber and Lyft don't operate here so transportation includes buses, trains, taxis, or friends' cars. The closest rental car company is Kiel.
