Semi-formal. Have a dress or suit you never have the event to wear to -- this is it my friend! Ultimately, be comfortable, feel good, and have fun! Be sure to bring a sweater or jacket, the Pacific Northwest gets chilly (mid 50Fs) after sunset.
Evergreen trees, salmon, whales, boats, sunshine after a sprinkle of rain, mid-70s weather, a light breeze, and peaceful waters. Although it is summer, you should bring a rain coat and dress in layers! It is chilly in the morning and in the evening. Check out the 'Things to do' page for suggestions, a map of locale and trail recommendations.
Please no dogs at the ceremony or reception. We do encourage you to explore the area with them before and after the wedding, please be mindful of the wildlife (bald eagles, seals, locals, shellfish, etc). Some hotels will allow dogs to chill in the hotel room. We can also make some suggestions for a local dog sitter.
Yes, we love them! There are lots of activities for kids in the area. Our "Things to do" page includes many activities Hanna would do as a kid in the area. We also can recommend some local kid sitters if you'd like flexibility during the wedding.
You have three options that each offer cool stops along the way. Seattle-Tacoma, Bellingham, or Paine Field. Google Maps gives pretty accurate directions. From Seattle-Tacoma International (recommended) 1. Drive or tram + walk to the Seattle Ferry Terminal --> Bainbridge Island Ferry or the Kingston Ferry --> Drive to Port Townsend. OR 2. Drive from Seattle-Tacoma Airport (through Gig Harbor/Bremerton) --> Port Townsend. From Paine Field International: Whidbey Island Ferry from the Mukilteo Ferry Terminal --> Drive through Whidbey Island to the Fort Casey Ferry Terminal --> Port Townsend Ferry to Port Townsend ferry dock.
If you are driving onto the ferry, reservations (buying a ticket ahead of time) are strongly recommended as they can have hours long wait times. Some island ferries only run a handful of times a day! Carpooling is totally doable and encouraged. Hanna is happy to connect you with others for carpooling to and from the ferry or airport.
