This hotel is only a few blocks from our house, and used to be a psychiatric center. It is a gorgeous old building that looks like a castle with modern updates, and you can walk or bike (there are city bikes on the campus) to pretty much anywhere in the city
This hotel is downtown and has a great coffee spot on the first floor that we love. It could be walking distance from the wedding venue if you're really dedicated (Hanna used to walk there and back each weekend to write and get breakfast when she lived at 500 Seneca), but we don't recommend that for the wedding day.
Our favorite restaurant. Sit at the bar for tacos and excellent cocktails, or splurge on the tasting menu. Victor is amazing and this is the best food in Buffalo!
We eat here weekly. Get the #20
The best diner breakfast in Buffalo by a landslide. It's not open on Sundays (tragic mistake), but is worth the trip any other day. Go very early if you go on a weekend, or be prepared to wait an hour for a table!
Pasta. It's good.
We went here on our first date! It's a good spot for pizza and drinks.
This place is nuts, and is the best day date idea of all time. It is a warehouse full of the most beautiful and unique vintage (often midcentury or postmodern) furniture and art you will ever see. Michael always has good music playing while you wander. Go when you have ample time to spend, and eat beforehand. You're going to be there a while.
This place is huge. Go early in the morning on a weekend!
The coolest used bookstore with a lot of art for sale as well
This is a secondhand furniture and memorabilia shop that primarily has 1970s stuff. It is VERY fun to walk through!
A good record shop packed into a small space with something for everyone
There is a spot along the North Country Trail (41.88977202880575, -78.88589932370405) that leads to one of Hanna's favorite places in the world. It's often very overgrown and it's difficult to find the specific place we love, but we're happy to give you directions to see it for yourself. It's an easy hike with no one around, and would be fun to do with kids too! This hike is about a 2 hour drive from the city, making it a great day trip.
