Our favorite botanical garden, Meerkerk is a nonprofit nursery that cultivates an incredible array of azaleas and rhododendrons, as well as two miles of trails through sprawling woodlands--all with a beautiful water view. (This was where we originally wanted to host our wedding, but they don't do weddings, unfortunately! So we just have to direct you to go check it out.) Enjoy the gardens!
We make a point to come here every single time we're on the island! With their unique liqueurs featuring locally grown blackberries, marionberries, loganberries, and raspberries, Whidbey Island Distillery offers a truly unique experience. They have a tasting room with free tastings, but you will certainly not leave without grabbing a bottle of their award-winning liqueurs. They also sell their own Rye whiskey. Don't miss it!
Langley is such a cute town by the water with plenty of little shops and parks in full bloom. Stop by Whidbey Pie Shop for a slice of warm marionberry pie. Grab a craft beer at the Double Bluff Brewery. Walk along the beach at Seawall Park. We love getting dinner on the rooftop of "Savory, a Restaurant". Or get pizza with a beach view at Village Pizzeria. There's plenty of options!
Whether you're looking for an all-day hike at Deception Pass State Park, or a nice beach walk (photo above taken in Coupeville), this area has plenty to do. You'll have a free day on Saturday--why not get out there?
