Emily moves down to Houston, Texas with Joe in 2021 after the chemical plant he worked for in northern Illinois burned to the ground. She gets a job working remotely as an investigative journalist.

Emily and Joe move back up to the Midwest in August 2023 so Joe can get his Master's in Business Administration at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor.
