FAQs

Question

Is there a dress code?

Answer

Please wear cocktail attire. Although it is Halloween, we ask that you do not show up in a costume.

Question

Is there parking for the ceremony or reception?

Answer

The ceremony and reception are at the same venue, Inn of the Seventh Ray. We will arrange for shuttles to transport guests staying at the hotel to the venue. If you prefer to drive, there is valet parking available & ride share services are also an option. Please note ride shares may be challenging to book due to the location of the venue.

Question

Are kids welcome?

Answer

We love your little guys & gals, but in order to keep our event small & intimate, we kindly request that you do not bring children.

Question

Is LA traffic really that bad?

Answer

Yes! If you think you are giving yourself enough time to get from point A to point B, triple that amount of time. This is especially pertinent to remember when traveling to Inn of the Seventh Ray for our ceremony, as it is off a winding, one-lane road and Friday afternoon rush hour is challenging.

Question

Can I request a song at the reception?

Answer

Because the bride is a complete music snob, our DJ will not be taking requests from guests. Our music has been carefully curated by said snob & no exceptions will be made. Save it for the after-party.

Question

What is the weather like in LA in October?

Answer

Typically, the weather in Los Angeles in late October is mild, averaging lows in the 60s and highs in the low 80s/high 70s. Los Angeles is a desert, so mornings are cool, then afternoons are hot, followed by cooler evenings. It is hit or miss whether it will rain or not, as some years are rainier than others. Dressing in layers is recommended since temperatures fluctuate throughout the day. Our venue has coverage in case of rain and outdoor heaters to keep us warm, but please bring a jacket or shawl, as well, to ensure you're comfortable.

Question

Where is Topanga, CA?

Answer

Topanga is in west Los Angeles County close to the beaches of Malibu. Topanga is lush and green with winding mountain roads that snake their way through the canyon. The land is Native Tongva land, as is most of Los Angeles County. Artists flocked to Topanga beginning in the 1950's and it later became home to musicians like Neil Young, the Beach Boys, Marvin Gaye & Jim Morrison. The roads are winding and can be narrow in some places, so please take care while driving. Cell service may be spotty in some areas. Topanga is a magical & wild place, so don't expect to find a Target or Starbucks. For those sorts of errands, the nearest suburbs are Woodland Hills and Calabasas. We are extremely grateful that much of Old Topanga and our venue were untouched by January's wild fires & we are excited to share our love for this very special & enchanting place with everyone.
