The bride has had a love for Bloomington since her cousin, Chaz, went to college there. Emily went down to visit her cousin one autumn and was shown all the great spots. Her cousin took her to Runcible Spoon for dinner and showed her around campus in hopes that the bride would also attend the school. While the bride definitely wanted to attend the stars had not aligned and she missed the window to apply to the school. Time passed and her love for Bloomington remained. Her grandparents even lived near Bloomington so she had more reasons to come down and visit. Along came Joe! The couple wanted to take a vacation during the grooms spring break while he was in college. Of course the bride suggested they visit Bloomington. Again Chaz showed the couple the greatest spots in town. Chaz had her lovely partner, Josh, a lifelong Bloomington resident with her to help pick the best places. By the time their visit to B-Town was done, Joe had fallen in love with Bloomington as well. Nearly every year since the couple has traveled to Bloomington to events at the FAR Gallery. It may be an art related event during Chaz's time working for the gallery or it may be a Cicada Cinema event held by Chaz's partner Josh and his crew with their fantastic pop-up cinema. The couple decided that they must get married in Bloomington and that it be at the FAR Gallery so they too can show their loved ones the town they love so much.
Joe was born and raised in Northwest Indiana. Virgo. He spent a lot of time in his youth in the Indiana Dunes state park, enrolled in the Junior Rangers program. He graduated from Chesterton High in 2011, and Purdue Norhtwest (formerly Calumet) in 2019 with a degree in Computer Graphics Technology. With a tenuous grasp of lots of disparate tech practices and modest programming knowledge, he managed to become a web developer, writing and maintaining server side website code. When he isn't working or spending time with his partner, he can usually be found gaming with the boys. But beyond the typical pass times you'd expect from a thirty-something nerd guy, he's particularly passionate about playing and designing tabletop roleplaying games of his own. Some people have a project that'll never be finished; an old car, a novel, planning the perfect road trip. For Joe, it's tinkering with his homebrew ruleset. For Joe, reading, playing, and listening to RPG campaigns is a never ending source of joy and inspiration.
Emily was born in Virginia under the Capricorn Sun while her father was in the Navy. Once her father had finished serving in the Navy, they moved back to northwest Indiana where both her father and mother grew up. She graduated with a Core 40 Honors degree from Wheeler High School in 2013 with hopes of pursuing a degree in construction engineering from Purdue. Unfortunately life handed her a difficult set of cards to play and Emily faced several difficult challenges that prevented her from finishing her schooling. Life has landed Emily in a Lead Pharmacy Technician role where she enjoys administering vaccinations to help the health of her community. When she isn't tied up in work she enjoys taking up just about every art medium. She's enjoyed cross-stitch, faux-statined glass work, ceramics, jewelry-making, sewing, and miniatures. You name it, she's probably tried it. She also enjoys reading poetry. Her favorite poet being Edgar Allen Poe who shares a birthday with her. If Emily could pick a career and money didn't matter she would love to be an English History Professor. She loves fashion and loves admire every fashion trend. Her favorite "every day wear" designer is Hila Klein of Teddy Fresh. Most of the clothes that both the bride and groom wear out are pieces from Teddy Fresh. The bride passionately supports them as they are a small business out of L.A. and have great designs and always collaborate with other small artists. The bride is passionate about art in all forms, most importantly music.
Thanks so much for asking it was killing the bride. One thing that nearly everyone in Emily's orbit knows is that her guilty pleasure is enjoying the poetic ballads of one millennial crazy cat lady who is a distant cousin, (specifically sixth cousins, three times removed) of Emily Dickinson. Who is this tortured poet? Taylor Alison Swift. One of her best friends, Racquel, introduced the bride to the singer many years ago and the bride brushed it off. The bride was "too cool" for pop/country music. Around the same time the bride met the groom, Swift released Reputation and the bride has been on board since. Reputation was a highly anticipated album as the singer had not been in the public eye since a feud with disgraced former rapper and his former wife. Fans thought the album would be all songs "getting back" at the individuals but instead were mostly love songs about her parter at the time Joe Alwin. Emily enjoys that the songs were written about a man named Joe and sings them in her car to her man named Joe. Zola only allows 2000 characters per answer so we are unable to write a lengthy essay at this time about Taylor Swift and her social and economic impact she's had on the world or how she is the greatest poet of our time. Also if your opinion of this is different of that of the bride on this particular subject we are not taking any feedback at this time thank you. This concludes the Taylor Swift portion of the website and the bride will try her best to avoid bringing it up again for those that are too sensitive to the subject. Unless you think that she "ruined football" then shut up, you're annoying and probably sexist and now uninvited to the wedding, Joe said so.
