Stroll the waterfront, pop into local shops for keepsakes, grab an ice cream cone, and settle in for dinner — all within a walkable few blocks. This charming small-town night is actually how we first connected with our wedding planners, event rentals team, and more… all in one evening! It’s the perfect way to see the heart of the Crystal Coast and feel what makes it so special. ✨ Tip: If you’re staying at the Beaufort Hotel, they offer a complimentary shuttle to and from downtown all day long — just stop by the front desk to arrange a time. Golf carts and bikes are also available to rent!
Take a ferry or boat tour out to Shackleford Banks to see wild horses roaming free and collect shells on the beach. It was one of our favorite parts of our trip. Just remember to pack your own drinks, snacks, towels & sunscreen!
Atlantic Beach, Emerald Isle and Pine Knoll Shores are all close by for beach time, sunsets, walks, etc.
Beaufort started out as a fisherman’s town, and that legacy is still alive today. Whether you’re in downtown Beaufort or over in Atlantic Beach, you’ll find no shortage of charter boats and locals eager to take you out on the water. From half-day trips to full expeditions, there’s something for every level of adventure. If you can carve out the time to head to town early and spend a day on the sea, it’s one of the best ways to experience the Crystal Coast like a local.
You all knew Hunter wouldn’t get married anywhere he couldn’t sneak in a round the morning of — so, against my better judgment, I’m letting you know there are plenty of courses nearby to explore. Crystal Coast Country Club (Pine Knoll Shores) — Our wedding venue and a gorgeous coastal course open to the public. BUT: Make sure to call ahead, EARLY!! Brandywine Bay Golf Club (Morehead City) — Just across the bridge, a classic 18-hole course with tree-lined fairways. North River Golf Club (Beaufort) — A friendly, semi-private course with great views and relaxed vibes. Star Hill Golf Club (Cape Carteret/Emerald Isle area) — 27 holes, known for being approachable and fun for all skill levels.
