Mill Mountain Coffee & Tea
This is Max's go-to coffee spot! It's a local coffee shop in our area. We go there often to get an Espresso Cooler. There're several locations but the Salem one is the closest!
Scrambled
This is a great breakfast spot in downtown Roanoke! You can walk the farmers market before or after you try some of their French toast! It's the best!
Chip & Jo's Restaurant
Best breakfast in town! This is a little Mom & Pop breakfast and lunch spot. It is usually pretty busy but they work fast and it's worth it!
Taubman Museum of Art
The art museum is a cool experience! There’s plenty to see downtown, and this is a nice stop if you’re looking to slow down the pace a little.
Poor Mountain Trail
This is a great short hike in the area! It's roughly 3.6 miles round trip! It will be beautiful with all of Virginia's fall foliage. There are several great hikes around Roanoke like MacAfee's Knob, they do take up a lot of your day but they are so worth it if you have the time! If you aren't up for a hike but would still like a great view of the mountains take a drive down the Blueridge parkway!
Mill Mountain Star
Take a scenic drive or hike up to Mill Mountain Park to view the spectacular Mill Mountain Star up close. As the symbol of Roanoke, the star gives a perfect vantage point for capturing stunning city views, especially at night when it's illuminated.
Wasena City Tap Room & Grill
We love the tap room! They have great lunch options. They also carry mostly all of the popular beers from several local breweries in our area! It's right next to the parkway if you'd like to take a walk outside!
Martin's Downtown
This is our go-to lunch or dinner spot! Literally every single thing on the menu is good! The atmosphere is always fun!
Olde Salem Brewing Company
A cute local brewery, they usually have live music on Fridays and they have a great beer selection and patio too!
Parkway Brewing Company
Parkway is a local brewery right in Salem! They're known for Max's favorite beer, Get Bent, and a few others.
