Things To Do

We love Tuscany for its rolling hills, beautiful towns, and incredible food, and we hope you’ll take a little time to explore while you’re here! We've put together a list of cities/towns that are worth a visit :)
Florence

Florence

Tuscany, Italy

Our favourite city in Italy! Amazing food, wine, art, history & architecture. Spend the morning wandering the Uffizi Gallery, home to Michaelangelo's David, then stroll across the Ponte Vecchio, the city's famous bridge. Don't miss the Duomo, Florence's stunning cathedral - you can climb to the dome for breathtaking views over the terracota rooftops. One of Florence's most charming quirks is the wine windows. These tiny arched openings are scattered throughout the old city walls and date back to the 1600s. Keep an eye out for one whilst wandering the streets! For stunning sunset views, make your way up to Piazzale Michelangelo, the city's most famous viewpoint. You'll see the entire skyline with the Arno River, Duomo and the distant Tuscan hills. It's the perfect spot to bring a bottle of wine, sit on the steps, and listen to the musicians that often play up here!

San Gimignano

San Gimignano

San Gimignano, Tuscany 53037, Italy

San Gimignano's skyline is one of the most iconic in all of Tuscany, it looks like a scene straight from a film or book! Think of narrow winding streets, charming vintage shops, galleries and cafes. The main sqaure, Piazza della Cisterna, is the perfect place for a gelato or espresso while people watching under the Tuscan sun. Don't miss a visit to Gelateria Dondoli, right in the heart of the square. It's a world famous gelato shop! Head up the Torre Grossa, the tallest of San Gimingnano's towers, for sweeping views across the vineyards and olive groves. Restaurants: La Vecchia Mura (lovely outdoor terrace) Il Feudo Boboli Dulcisinfundo La Mangiatoia

Volterra

Volterra

Volterra, Tuscany 56048, Italy

Set high on a hill overlooking the Tuscan countryside, Volterra is a little gem that perfectly captures ancient history, breathtaking views & winding cobbled streets. Originally an Etruscan settlement dating back over 3,000 years, Volterra still carries traces of its past everywhere you look. You can stroll through the remains of the Etruscan walls, & explore the Roman Theatre (beautifully preserved and open to the sky). The Palazzo dei Priori, with its impressive tower and centuries-old clock, dominates the square and is the perfect backdrop for a coffee or glass of wine at one of the nearby cafés. It’s also a great place to do a bit of people-watching! There are plenty of trattorias and wine bars to choose from. Try Osteria La Pace or Ristorante Enoteca Del Duca for traditional Tuscan dishes and local wines, or La Carabaccia for a cosy, authentic meal in a medieval cellar.

Pienza & Montepulciano

Pienza & Montepulciano

Pienza, Tuscany 53026, Italy

If you have the time to venture a little further south, the neighbouring hill towns of Pienza and Montepulciano offer some of the most breathtaking scenery in all of Tuscany Together, Pienza and Montepulciano make a perfect day trip — start with a relaxed morning in Pienza, enjoy a countryside drive through the Val d’Orcia, and finish with a wine tasting (or two!) in Montepulciano before heading back as the sun sets.
