Edit- as of September 1st-RSVP window is officially closed and we have hit capacity. Thank We both come from families where neither of our parents had a wedding. So we're keeping the tradition alive by not being traditional and not having a lavish wedding. This will be a reception only celebration as our ceremony will be held privately between the two of us on our forever anniversary, October 26th. We will also not have bridesmaids or groomsmen as we view all our friends as equally important in our journey. The reception takes place during Veterans Weekend. We will have a moment to honor both our late fathers who were both Veterans with a shot of tequila. We encourage you to join along with us. As for how they met? It was the night of March 18, 2008 in Sierra Vista, AZ when they were introduced by their friends Cassondra Jones (formerly Dominguez) and Iggy Chavez (may that fool rest in peace). Amber went to see the Blockbuster flop Never Back Down with Cassondra and she invited Iggy who then invited Marcus. By the end of the night, Cassondra gave Amber's number to Marcus unbeknownst to her, and he quickly texted her the next morning. Amber was shy, but she quickly warmed up to him. They casually dated from 2009-2010 before calling it quits. Right people, wrong time. Fast forward to 2014 when they got back in touch. Marcus was in South Carolina and Amber in Texas. They would keep in touch and would visit one another from time to time. That's when they realized, the spark never went away as much as they tried to just remain friends. Marcus then moved to Detroit, Michigan in 2015 for a job and was in a 2 year Step up Program internship. During this time their casual convos became more frequent and it was obvious this was beyond friendship. This led to them to consider long distance and making it official on October 26, 2016. After 9 months, Amber decided to leave her beloved Dallas for Detroit in August 2017 to be with her "Boo Bear". After many years of dealing with the cold, Marcus was presented with a new job in Fort Huachuca starting January of 2023. Back to Arizona they went! On October 27, 2023, Marcus proposed and Amber of course said YES! Now here we are, less than a year til they say I DO!
