We're Getting Married!

Jake and Haley crossed paths the night before orientation at Calvin University, thanks to a dance neither of them had any interest in attending—both were practically forced there by their mothers. Not keen on hitting the dance floor, they found themselves awkwardly lingering in the hallway outside the event. Jake, noticing they had a shared reluctance, decided to strike up a conversation.

After two years of friendship filled with bookstore trips, bus rides that always seemed to end in getting lost, and countless coffee-fueled study sessions, everything finally fell into place the summer before junior year. During a movie night, Haley casually rested her arm on the shared armrest—an unmistakable hint for Jake to take her hand. Thankfully, he did. The rest, as they say, is history!

Jake surprised Haley with a proposal during a camping trip to Kings Canyon & Sequoia National Parks. Jake had planned the absolute perfect proposal, complete with a gorgeous view and meaningful gifts from each of their families, while Haley remained totally oblivious. On a perfect autumn day—blue skies, warm sun, and at the top of a stunning hike (which Haley almost gave up on)—Jake dropped to one knee and asked Haley to be his wife. Haley was already sobbing and nodding "yes" before he even got the words out, so she’s not sure how she'll hold it together during the wedding ceremony! As a special touch of Providence, a random hiker happened to capture the entire proposal on video. The whole trip felt like something out of a dream—it couldn’t have been more perfect.
