How We Met

Some Friday or Saturday night in March, 2011

I had just returned from Spring Break in California when one of my friends had asked me to come out with her boyfriend and her. Fresh out of the spray tan booth, I declined. She asked me again to please come out to fight night so she could have someone to talk to while her boyfriend engaged in some MMA at a local bar. So, I reluctantly said I would come. We were sitting at a table next to a group of guys who were there to watch the fight. The two guys sitting closest to me became engaged in a friendly argument about the best bed sheets; bamboo vs. microfiber. Naturally, I tuned in. After the back and forth, I finally just burst out laughing and they both turned to look at me as if to say, "what are you laughing at?" At the end of the night, Microfiber asked me for my number and even text me after we had all gone home. After a few months of being asked to hang out (I legit just wanted to focus on getting out of school after the 500 million something hours I had already been in school), we went out on an ice cream date and the rest is history.... or something like that!

How We Got Engaged

March 30, 2018

It was a Friday night and we were sitting around our fire pit in the backyard enjoying some music, wine, and our dog. Matt got up to go inside and I just assumed he was refilling his glass of wine. He came back out and was standing by the fire pit, as I was engaged with the music and our dog. I heard something along the lines of, "hey Katie, look!" So, I looked at him and said, "what?" Somehow I didn't even remotely notice him down on one knee, but he was down on one knee. He had a box in his hand, but I was just staring directly at his face wondering what he wanted me to look at. After just staring at each other, I FINALLY realized what was going on and was shocked. All I could say was, "are you serious?" I think I said it probably 3ish times. I'm not even sure of everything he actually said, but I remember something along the lines of, "I love you. Will you marry me?" I cried and said, "YES!"
