We first met during our freshman year at Bucknell University, brought together not only by living in the same dorm but also by competing on the track and field team. Hailey was a middle-distance runner, Jack a pole vaulter—naturally, a friendly rivalry emerged. Over time, we developed a close-knit group of friends, and within that circle, a challenge was born: could Jack survive a five-mile run with Hailey? Determined to prove himself, Jack accepted the dare. That run, which we now fondly consider our “first date,” turned into a memorable beginning. Despite a sudden torrential downpour, we completed every mile—laughing, sweating, and doing our best to impress each other along the way. By the end, exhausted, drenched, and barely finishing the run, Jack found himself falling for Hailey. Over the years, we have discovered shared hobbies such as skiing, athletics, and the outdoors. But as time went on, our connection extended far beyond surface-level interests. We’ve learned to support each other’s passions, pursue adventure, and embrace the moments that matter. Each of us found faith at different points in our college journey, and it was through that faith that, over time, we began to understand the meaning of love and commitment. We realized that we weren’t just choosing each other for the exciting moments—we were committing to walking side by side through life’s challenges, laying our lives down for one another in pursuit of something greater. Today, as we reflect on where we started and where we’re headed, we are grateful for every mile, every challenge, and every moment that has brought us here. We can’t wait to celebrate the defining moment of this story with each and every one of you!
