There are a ton of great waterfalls in and near Highlands that are worth a visit, here are some of our favorites below: Nantahala National Forest Glen Falls Trail (Moderate hike - 2.4 miles, 784 ft elevation gain. Sunset Rock (1.4 miles, 236 ft elevation gain) is a wonderful place to watch the sunset. Secret Falls Sliding Rock
