From Michelle: I always found the saying "he'll come around when you aren't looking for him" so cliche and I couldn't stand when people would say it. Well - of course that is how it all happened! Mwita and I had talked a little bit in the beginning of 2021 online. Little did I know, shortly after we began talking Mwita travelled back home to Kenya but planned to connect back with me when he returned. I just thought he lost interest and stopped talking. In the summer, I had taken down my dating profile online and was probably telling myself for the 20th time that I'd be single forever. One day I opened my phone to find a message, I was confused as to how Mwita was able to message me as I had taken my profile down. (because we corresponded in the past, he was able to message me again without an active profile) At this time, I had been going through some health struggles, so I really didn't know if I "had it in me" to start dating again. I thought about it for a couple days and figured "why not, at least it's someone I can talk to and if anything he can be a friend". In true COVID fashion, our first date was a zoom date! We connected on such a level - I felt like I'd known this man all my life. If you ask Mwita, he would say he knew on that night that he wanted to spend the rest of his life with me :) I cannot wait to marry my best friend and love of my life.
