How We Met

Hadley's Perspective

We kind of met twice! The first time, we were both orientation leaders at Purdue, and I was assigned as his supervisor - but don't listen to Luke, because he'll say that I 'abused my power' to hit on him. The truth is that we barely interacted because he was a second-time leader, so I knew he didn't need much 'supervision,' so I barely knew him. After that year, we didn't see each other at all for a while. Then, our senior year, I was going out with my best friend and one of her friends, and her friend asked if he could bring his roommate along. Enter: Luke (now, not under my supervision lol). The four of us ended up becoming super close as a friend group, even going so far as to plan a trip to Europe together for after graduation! Luke and I would hang out together a lot but we never wanted to jeopardize the friend group- or worse, the trip. But we scheduled the trip in November, and by April we decided to risk it and we started dating :) So, funny enough, some of our first dates were in crazy places in Europe (hiking the Alps, picnic in front of the Eiffel Tower, boating at Versailles, it was insane).

How Luke Proposed

Luke's Perspective

I somehow got Hadley back to Purdue without her suspecting anything and proposed on the hill where we’d had a picnic the morning of our graduation—back when we’d only been dating for two weeks. She was completely shocked; she was convinced the proposal was going to happen the next weekend when we were going on a trip! I had secretly coordinated with a bunch of her friends and family, so when we walked into the Purdue Union and she saw everyone there, it was a second surprise. It was amazing.
