One of the beautiful things about tending bar is that you get to meet a bunch of great people. At least, that's what anyone in the industry will tell you. No one ever talks about the Thursday daytime shift where you restock the liquor, organize the keg room, squeeze the next two days' worth of lemons and limes, and walk home about $18 richer than you went to work. So when Robin came into the bar on a lonely weekday for a postprandial beverage, I could not help but notice...she was with someone else. While she and her friend enjoyed an afternoon libation, I continued shuffling kegs and juicing citrus, checking on Robin through the corner of my eye. And when it came time to settle the tab, well, she settled the tab and went on her way. Thankfully, the story did not end there. Almost a month later, Robin came into a restaurant I was managing looking for a job. And it was at the Evening Star Café where we first built a rapport, friendship, and love together. It's been over four years and we are so happy for the places our relationship has taken us--new homes, jobs, states, and coasts. We are so pleased that you are spending such a special day with us. -wtk
