Hotel
One of the things we love most about Achnagairn Castle is its ability to house all of our friends and family in the same place to celebrate on both Wednesday (July 9) and Thursday (July 10). Achnagairn is a large Highland estate that can be rented for exclusive use and is located within 15 acres of formal gardens, lawns and woodlands. The castle itself has 24 bedrooms of varying sizes. Some rooms have only one double bed; other rooms may have multiple beds, be conjoined with other rooms, share bathrooms, etc. In addition to the rooms within the castle, there are Mini Manors (smaller than a castle, bigger than a standard house) on the estate grounds that are located right next to the castle and have 5-6 bedrooms each, kitchens, and common rooms. Room costs will vary depending on these different factors and will be roughly $200 per night. Due to the variety of rooms and the specific needs of each party, we will plan to assign rooms to wedding guests. We'll reach out to each party following receipt of RSVPs to ensure that the assigned room(s) fits your needs and to provide details on payment. If you have any specific needs that we may not be aware of (e.g., cribs, cots, proximity to other attendees, etc.), please let us know when you RSVP!
Flight
Achnagairn is about a 30 min drive from Inverness Airport, which is where we recommend guests fly into if arriving by air. We will ask guests to provide their itinerary ahead of time if arriving by air, as we will likely arrange for a shuttle or some sort of group transportation for people arriving around a similar time (more information to come here). For all other guests, you can quite easily hail a taxi at the airport or also rent a car if you are planning to stay in Inverness or the nearby Scottish Highlands for an extended period of time beyond the two-day wedding activities. Note that Uber / Lyft is not currently available in Inverness.
Train
Inverness is a city that is easily accessible by train. There are two main options that may be suitable based on your travel preferences. Option 1: If you plan to visit Edinburgh prior to the wedding, there are many options to travel from Edinburgh to Inverness via train. The trip takes about 3.5-4 hours and should cost approximately £30-50 ($40-65). From there, you can catch a local bus to Achnagairn, which is located in Kirkhill. Option 2: If you are traveling from London, there is the option of taking a train all the way from London to Inverness. The trip is approximately 8-9 hours and there is an overnight sleeper train option. The cost will likely be around £200-300 ($265-400). This is likely not going to be the cheapest way of traveling between the cities but may be ideal for someone who is interested in either traveling overnight or visiting multiple cities by train while traveling north to Inverness.
