We love taking a walk on Sullivan’s Island! This is the beach where we had our first date and where we got engaged. There is usually parking at Station 18 1/2, which is near the lighthouse.
Great hamburgers & fries! Note: They don’t take reservations.
The day after Josh and I met at church, he came here to meet me. I was having dinner there before a Bible study, and we were texting when he asked if I wanted some company. Yes! We also went here for dinner after we were engaged and worked on our registry together. This place has tasty food and holds fun memories for us. The five spic ground pork is particularly good!
Isle of Palms is a city in South Carolina, on the slender barrier island of the same name. It’s known for its beaches backed by condos and eateries. Sea turtles nest in the area. The oceanfront Isle of Palms County Park includes a beach, picnic areas, and a playground. There is a VFW (Veterans of Foreign Wars) located here, “The Post on the Coast,” where Josh is a member.
Owl Bear Cafe is unique as it not only has great food and coffee, but a whole shelf of board games you can choose from to play during your visit.
Josh and I got Domino’s pizza and took it to the North end of the island, where there is a graffiti path that leads to the water and has a more secluded part of the beach with cool driftwood and trees. It’s a lovely spot to visit if you have time while in Charleston. Folly Beach also has lots of great restaurants to check out!
One of the best things to do downtown is to take a walk around Riley Waterfront Park, check to see if you can spot any dolphins off the harbor as you gaze upon the Cooper River, rock in one of the family-sized swings, and take a selfie in front of the famous Pineapple Fountain. Fun fact:, both Josh and I have memories of swimming in this fountain as kids! The Pineapple Fountain stands in the heart of Charleston's historic Waterfront Park. Since the Pineapple Fountain was unveiled in 1990, it's become one of Charleston's most photographed landmarks. Pineapples are common throughout the city, representing its tradition of hospitality. Another must is a walk through the city market, Charleston’s most visited attraction, and check out all the stalls with handmade items and Charleston souvenirs.
Josh and I visited Charleston’s original rooftop bar early on in dating, and enjoyed a glass of wine while chatting and watching the sunset.
Church and Union is where I took Josh for his 39th birthday!
The Pitt Street Bridge, also known as the Cove Inlet Bridge and the Cove Inlet Causeway, was once the sole means of crossing the Charleston harbor from Mount Pleasant to the beach at Sullivan’s Island. Now it stands as a coastal passage for exercise, leisurely strolls, and fishing.
Great coffee and food!
Where Josh and I had our first meal together, the day we met!
This is a great spot by the water. Grab a coffee to go and then explore the scenic trails and harbor-front walkways.
There are so many good restaurants in this fun part of town. Check out www.parkcircle.com for the full collection of amazing restaurants, but listed below are the ones we have personally enjoyed. * Accent on Wine - Where we went after Josh asked me to be his girlfriend! * CommonHouse Aleworks * Evo Pizzeria * Katsubo * Orange Spot Coffee * The Junction Kitchen
Gwynne’s favorite coffee shop to go and work from and the photo above is the first sneaky photo that Gwynne took of Josh while they were both working from this coffee shop.
