But everything changed during one summer in 2016. One evening, Camila walked down to the firepit where Gus and his family were gathered, and their eyes met for the very first time — under the stars, in the glow of the campfire. Over the next few days, a quiet connection grew — full of shared laughs, playful teasing, and soft, unspoken moments. Gus made sure to be close by — helping Camila on and off the boat (his subtle flirting, which she totally missed at the time), and sharing little looks that said more than words could. As soon as Camila got cell reception again, she saw a Facebook request from Gus — a quiet confirmation that the conversations they’d shared by the fire had meant something to them both. They say "the rest is history," but for them, that moment was just the beginning. What followed wasn’t just a romance, but the beginning of a deep friendship and a love that has grown stronger with every year. Today, they’ve built a beautiful life together in Santa Rosa, California, with their beloved fur baby Echo by their side. As they step into this next chapter as husband and wife, Gus and Camila know it has never been about the destination — it has always been about the journey, shared always side by side.
