Henry Ford Museum of American Innovation
There is so much to see here, from historical artifacts to antique vehicles and presidential motorcars. Also, you can sit in the exact bus (and seat) that Rosa Parks sat on. Peter and Erin visited recently with Erin's parents, so feel free to ask them about their favorite parts of the museum.
Greenfield Village
This open-air museum is a "village" with multiple districts. Very cute place with some interesting history and more artifacts to enjoy. It is related to the Henry Ford.
Detroit Institute of Arts
The DIA is architecturally gorgeous, but the artwork is the real star. The gallery contains pieces from Georgia O'Keefe, Vincent Van Gogh, Claude Monet, Edgar Degas, and so many other talented artists.
Eastern Market
Eastern Market is a massive farmer's market located right in Detroit. Visit on Saturday to enjoy the bustling shoppers and vibrant colors and buy some tasty local produce for a snack.
Shatila Bakery
This is an amazing bakery known for their Middle Eastern baklawa. Erin is also partial to the walnut mamoul.
Buddy's Pizza
If you've never tried Detroit style pizza, Buddy's is a great place to change that!
Vault of Midnight
Peter and Erin love stopping in at Vault of Midnight's Ann Arbor location to browse their robust collection of comics, manga, art books, figurines, and board and card games. The Detroit location does not disappoint!
