How We Met

The Beauty in Life's Mystery. Ladder 19. 10/23/2015

What seemed like a normal Friday night would be one that would change both of our lives forever. Luke was enjoying a night with friends watching Halloween movies when he received the invite from a co-worker to meet for some drinks. With work lingering early the next morning and the invite coming late in the evening, he debated whether going out would be worth it. He went against the rational decision (what's new!?) and made the trip out to see his friend and hopefully meet some new ones. Meanwhile, Hannah excitedly headed out with her college roommates for a Friday night at one of their favorite spots...the library (NOT!). There was only one problem: Hannah was a couple months short of being old enough to enter the establishment where they were headed. She was denied at the door but after some quick thinking, found her way inside to the place where she and Luke would meet. Sorry Mom and Dad! So on a night where both Luke and Hannah almost did not make it out, they met for the first time and haven't been able to spend a day apart since. As the lyrics in Hannah's favorite song by Zac Brown Band says: "That is the Beauty in Life's Mystery". Coincidentally, Hannah had this tattooed on her foot just a few weeks prior to this night. Talk about fate!!

The Proposal

Took her to Boulder to give her a rock. Flatirons. 1/15/2020.

Throughout our 4 years together, we discovered that we both have a love for travel. We have been to 14 states together, and counting! One of our favorite states to visit is Colorful Colorado. We fell in love with the Mountains and everything that is Colorado during our first trip there. The beauty of the scenery, breweries, food, activities, and people. The overall way that we feel while we are there, free and thankful, is what makes it so special to us. Our first trip was in May 2019, so naturally we had to go back for ski season. We booked a trip around Hannah's 25th birthday in January 2020. Little did Hannah know, there was another surprise waiting once they landed. Dressed in our hiking gear, and needing food after the flight, we made our way up to Boulder Colorado. We stopped at Chick-fil-A (one of our favorites), then got some bourbon (also one of our favorites) to enjoy later that evening at the cabin after the hike of the Flatirons. As we pulled up to the trailhead, you could feel our excitement for the beginning our trip in one of our favorite places on earth. The sun was beginning to go down so Luke was eager to begin the hike, Meanwhile Hannah was stopping, and taking her time, to take pictures of the beautiful setting sun behind the mountain. Luke then pulled Hannah over to a spot that he thought would be a great spot for a picture of them both. It took him a while to set up the camera timer, his phone ended up on the ground leaned up against one of our water bottles. Luke then came walking over to Hannah, too slow she thought, because the phone would take a picture before he got to her. He then reached to where she was standing, took both of her hands in his, and then said "It's actually a video." In that moment, Hannah knew what was about to happen. Instant tears ensued, followed by the most wonderful words that anyone has ever said, and then an "Oh my God, yeah!" Best day ever.
