The Nikkah is the Islamic marriage ceremony where we will officially and spiritually commit to one another in the eyes of God. It is a sacred contract between us, witnessed by family and friends, symbolizing the beginning of our lifelong journey together. The ceremony typically includes the exchange of vows and a prayer for blessings and happiness in our union. This event will take place at a local mosque and all are welcome to attend regardless of religious affiliation. We do however ask that men and women sit separately at predetermined seating.
MEN - Wear long pants (no shorts) and a shirt with sleeves (no sleeveless tops). Good Examples: Slacks, jeans, cargo pants, button-up shirts, Polos, sweaters, etc. No tuxes/suits or overly casual clothing. Avoid overtly form fitting clothing. WOMEN - Wear long pants or maxi skirts (no shorts). Tops and dresses should cover arms and legs. Head covering required to the best of your ability. Avoid overtly form fitting clothing. We truly appreciate your understanding and cooperation in helping us maintain the sanctity of this space during our celebration. Please also be prepared to remove shoes when entering the mosque.
The reception will serve as an engagement party to gather and celebrate this exciting moment in our journey with our closest family and friends. We will work toward coordinating a wedding that will hopefully take place in the next few years and celebrate with you all again at that time!
We would be honored to have you with us for both events. In the event that you are unable to attend the ceremony, we would be so grateful to celebrate with you at the reception. Your presence at either event means the world to us!
The attire is semi-formal, embracing a blend of gowns, tuxedos, cocktail dresses, suits, and cultural wear. There are no strict rules—simply dress to impress and be ready to dance! For more inspiration, check out the 'Reception Inspiration' tab above.
Please fill out your RSVP on the website, by April 14, 2025 so that we may obtain an accurate head count for meal and seating arrangements.
As we are planning our party, we've decided to have a primarily adult celebration with certain exceptions. Children invited will be explicitly stated in your RSVP. We hope you understand, and we truly appreciate your support in making our day as memorable and enjoyable as possible.
We’re so excited to celebrate this day with our closest family and friends, and are hoping to keep the guest list limited. Thank you for not bringing a guest unless your invitation indicates otherwise. If you feel we left out someone important, let us know, but understand that our limitations may mean our hands are tied.
Religious ceremony: feel free to utilize the public parking lot available when you arrive at the mosque Engagement Reception: We are providing covered garage parking for all invited guests. Let us know when you RSVP if your party will be arriving in one vehicle to make this process a little bit smoother. Parking is only available in the Highland Street Parking Garage, which is located a few minutes walk from the University Union building. Further parking instructions will be texted to you closer to the event once RSVP is confirmed.
In keeping with our personal values, there will be no alcohol served at our event. We also kindly ask guests to not bring alcohol with them. Rest assured, we will ensure that there will be a variety of non-alcoholic beverages for you to enjoy.
Your presence at our event is the greatest gift we could ask for! However, if you would like to honor us with a gift, we have created a registry that can be found under the 'Registry' tab above. For your convenience, we will also be accepting cards at the event. Thank you for being a part of our celebration!
