Our choice of a Friday wedding was purposeful in that it gives everyone a whole Saturday to explore The unparalleled beauty of Cheaha State Park, especially during peak fall colors. We strongly recommend taking advantage of the many trails Cheaha has to offer. Bald Rock lookout has an accessible boardwalk alongside the trail, and it is also the shortest trail at 0.3 miles each way. Beyond the trail are some amazing rocks, if you enjoy a quick climb. Anna's favorite lookout is Pulpit Rock, which is a relatively short trail but has a very steep incline for the first and last 100 yards. This outlook has unbeatable panoramic views. Ian and Oscar's favorite trail is The Rock Garden. If you enjoy big rocks and amazing views, this is the trail for you. While it is arguably the shortest trail, it does have difficult/steep/rocky terrain. This is the view from the photo on our homepage. Bonus: It also leads to the top of the waterfall. You won't regret it!
Our favorite brewery in the area! Their beer is amazing, and their food even better. We love them so much we have them catering the wedding. Their taproom is full of in-house brews as well as guest taps from other craft brewers.
This is an unexpected gem! We discovered it on a rainy day, and we're so glad we did. Inside, walk through history from rocks and dinosaurs to the wonders of the world. Outside, the grounds are gorgeously landscaped and you feel totally secluded. Staff and docents are so friendly.
This place is a trip. The menu is filled with delicious southern comforts, and the size of the restaurant is...endless? If you are easily overstimulated, this is not the eatery for you. There WILL be a wait, but you can enjoy watching the catfish fish in the tank. NOTE: They do not serve alcohol on Sundays.
Cheaha State Park is located in Talladega National Forest (yes, THAT Talladega). We've never been to the racetrack, but the locals tell us the tour is a must for motorsports fans. Tours are on Saturdays and Sundays and take about 45 minutes.
