After finding each other online, Nick and Elle quickly connected over their shared love of family, Harry Potter, and ice cream. During their first date (which, not surprisingly, involved ice cream), they talked and laughed for hours, discovering how aligned and compatible their interests, values, and dreams for their lives were. As they spent more time together, Elle was drawn to Nick's optimism, selfless acts of kindness, and commitment to his goals. Nick in turn was impressed by Elle's openness to adventure, deep care and connection to others, and authenticity in conversations. It was not long before they introduced each other to friends and family, both being warmly accepted into each other's inner circles. Love steadily grew throughout their relationship, and it was the easiest question to answer when Nick asked Elle to marry him on Valentine's Day.
