The invisible string theory is the notion that there is an invisible thread connecting two individuals who are destined to be together. This cosmic thread, though unseen, is said to withstand the tests of time, distance, and even the complexities of life. It can become tangled, stretched, or seemingly strained, but the essence of the theory lies in its resilience. Sam and Cj's story is a testament to this theory and it technically begins at the PNC Bank Arts Center in the Summer of 2018 when Sam and Cj bumped into each other. Although young and unaware, and perhaps (definitely) too drunk to realize their paths crossed thus tying them together. This led to their first date at Buffalo Wild Wings but with the distance of college, they each went their separate ways. Fast forward 5 years, they find themselves in the same bar outside Madison Square Garden before a Devils - Rangers game. Sam with her brother Ty, and Cj with his dad they did not say hi to each other. It wasn't until Sam posted an Instagram Story at the game with her brother mentioning "sibling night" that Cj made his move (relieved Sam wasn't on a date). An Instagram DM turned into a 3-hour phone call that very night and our second first date the very next day. From that moment on, they were inseparable.
Cj pulled off the ultimate surprise! Our second day in St. Croix began like any other on island time, with a slow start to the day. We took the ferry to the main island for breakfast and quickly headed to the beach for some Piña Coladas. We enjoyed the sun, reading our books, playing in the ocean, and chatting with the locals. The only plans we had that whole trip was for a dinner date, one nice dinner during the trip, after watching the sunset on the beach. Once we were back in the room, getting ready, is when Cj started to panic, while I remained blissfully unaware. We got ready early to ensure we had enough time to catch the sunset before dinner and for my hair to dry. After all, it was island life, and I wasn't about to style my hair that night. Plus, Cj didn’t want me to yell at him for having wet hair in our pictures. Everything was going smoothly, and we headed down a short path towards a secluded cove to watch the sunset that we noticed on our first day. BUT, we encountered two workers who told us that we weren’t allowed to go back there. I shrugged it off, thinking we would simply grab a drink and watch the sunset from the main beach, which still had a great view. At this point, Cj went to the bathroom to text the photographer who was already set up to capture the moment. Bless her, she ran over to tell the workers to let us through for the surprise proposal. One of the workers pulled Cj aside to let him know we were good to go, and I, being my oblivious self, was completely unfazed and ready to follow Cj after he fabricated a story about machinery being moved. (In all fairness the hotel had construction going on) When we reached the cove, it was just the two of us chatting and admiring the views. Cj said, “You know how we say 'forever and ever and always'? Let’s start today.” He then got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. I was overjoyed and shocked he pulled off such a big surprise. I was so caught up in the moment that a few waves crashed over Cj as he made his heartfelt proposal, staying on one knee until I said that one word “yes.” He asked, and I said yes!!
