Travis had just moved to town, and he had high hopes for his single life in his new home. However, these were squashed when he immediately was smitten with the smiley waitress at the local watering hole. After her late-night shifts ended, he offered her rides home and eventually asked her to go on a bicycle ride. They ended up ditching the bikes after a short jaunt and decided to walk up a hill instead (some foreshadowing here of their lives together hiking up mountains.) As it was getting dark, one of them suggested getting a bite to eat. Julia asked another waitress friend for restaurant recommendations. One of the restaurants happened to be very close by- The Oyster Bar. Little did Julia know that the Oyster Bar was one of the classiest and priciest restaurants around. Well, Julia felt embarrassed that she had picked such an upscale restaurant for their "bite to eat." Nevertheless, Travis took it in stride, ordering adventurous items from the menu, and even paying the bill. Despite Julia choking on her drink and spraying it on her gentleman of a date, she somehow left a good impression. She must have, because the next morning, who should come marching over with a huge bouquet of roses, but Travis. Oh, and just over five years later, Travis proposed to Julia at that same Oyster Bar. And as they say, the rest was history.
