This is a classic love story brought together by Mars and the stars and froyo. Genna and Josh met in 2011 as many hard workers do - at work. Genna graced everyone with her presence and wisdom and frozen yogurt. Josh was one of those lucky souls and was immediately smitten. Conversation remained casual pleasantries and opinions on toppings. Through space and time, situations changed, but Josh’s lack of enthusiasm for froyo and much enthusiasm for Genna did not. No longer able to tolerate his strong opinions on toppings or understand him flirting with her, she had no other choice but to repeatedly ban him from the yogurt stand. Through more space and more time, Genna texted Josh during a launch party wondering where he was at. He was in Canada during the party, but didn’t see the message until his first time in Seattle, where he only stopped to grab some oysters, a cocktail and a waterfront view on the road back to Portland (Seattle had been cut from the roadtrip). Originally looking for any reason to stay in the PNW just a little bit longer, Josh all of a sudden needed to get back to LA. No longer working together, he had no other choice but to directly ask her to hang out. Wanting to look really cool, Josh invited her out to play some pool at the one and only Thirsty Club on Artesia and Inglewood. Usually empty and low-key, it was of course packed to the brim for some local band like Josh had never seen. Didn’t even know bands played there. He probably now seemed cooler than ever. They soon left and went to the even more empty BAC Street Lounge down the street to talk about more than casual pleasantries or froyo toppings. Like a true gentleman, Josh later escorted Genna to the nearby 7-11 for snacks, where, like a true romantic, he went in for the first kiss. The rest is chess and coffee and dogs and history.
