How We Met

01.13.17

Though Match.com initially introduced us to one another, the infamous cover band, Something Else is how we truly met face-to-face: We had plans to meet on a Sunday for lunch but with Thomas's impatience, we met on the Friday prior - Friday the 13th! Jess was out with her coworkers, jamming out to Spice Girls "Wannabe" and eating a triple cheese grilled cheese when she received a text from Thomas saying Something Else was playing at Brickwood in 45 minutes and she should come meet him. Though tempting, Jess was not ready to give up on her grilled cheese so she pushed back until remembering her coworker's (Haley) favorite cover band was, in fact, Something Else. Haley & Jaclyn went with Jess to meet up with Thomas and both Jess & Thomas felt an instant connection! Let it be known that on their first date that evening, Thomas told Jess and her friends that he was going to marry her. Jessica thought he was crazy, but look at where they are now!

The Proposal

7.24.18

While on a DeLaus family trip in Italy, we took a trip to Pisa with Thomas's immediate family. Our amazing tour guide, Vincenzo, walked and talked us through the incredible history of Pisa and the main buildings that exist in the city center. Did you know that the leaning tower of Pisa is actually a bell tower for the city cathedral? And the tower has actually always been leaning because the town of Pisa used to be more like Venice, with rivers flowing throughout the town? Pisa got its name from the Greek words that mean "marsh land" because those river waters flooded the ground in the town, leaving it very moist, which causes the tower to sink/lean, along with the cathedral and baptistery!!! Anyways, while climbing the 251 steps of the leaning tower of Pisa, Jess continually checked on Thomas, as he is severely afraid of heights. Thomas opted to stay inside the inner ring at the top with the bells, while Jess took in the panoramic view on the outer ring. Thomas called Jessica in to take a photo with him and while smiling for what seemed like an eternity to Jess, she leaned over to kiss him. Little did she know, they weren't posing for a picture but rather being recorded on video because immediately afterwards, he spoke of his love for her, his desire to be with her for the rest of his life and he got down on one knee! Tears streaming down her face, she said yes!!!! We're so excited to celebrate this next chapter in our lives with you.
